20th July 2017, Putrajaya : Think before you click on a link, regularly check your social media security settings and pay more attention to what information you share and be a responsible digital citizen. Those were some of the tips given by cyber security experts in a recent CyberSAFE Dialogue session held on 20th July 2017.
Kavitha Muthy, Principal Consultant of EC-Council Malaysia, shared on current burning issues of cyber security among the school students, teachers, parents, youths and knowledge workers. She further emphasized on what each and every one of us needs to do our part to make sure that our online lives are kept safe and secure. Lt. Col. Mustafa Kamal, of CyberSecurity Malaysia, ACP Ong Chin Ling of The Royal Malaysia Police together with a speaker from Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission and Harian Metro whom have enlighten with recommendations in a wide ranging talk on cyber safety landscape, real cases, and media’s role in creating cyber security awareness to the community were well discussed.
This dialogue session was held in conjunction with Safer Internet Day 2017 to promote safer and more responsible use of online technology and mobile phones, especially among children and young people across the world.
Each year SID aims to create awareness on the online cyber threats, from cyberbullying to social networking. The theme for the day is “Be the Change: Unite for a Better Internet.” (#SID2017)This is a remarkable endeavor designed to engage and educate public and private sector partners through events and initiatives to raise awareness about the importance of cybersecurity, provide them with tools and resources needed to stay safe online, and increase the resiliency of the Nation in the event of a cyber incident.
