Explosive Cybersecurity Challenges Globally & The Role of Educators
22nd July 2016

The EC-Council Academia Partnership talk brought together knowledge from three different domains in order to create knowledge exchange and collaborative partnership, which address the key cybersecurity challenges globally, and narrow down to Malaysian context while exposed on the role of Educators in Malaysia.

There was a special focus on key area such as skills shortage vs market demand. As shared by our distinguished speaker, Dr Henry Yeoh, Vice President of Malaysia Institute of Human Resource Management (MIHRM), numerous studies tell us that the rise in the numbers of jobs is not being met by the number of people adept at filling those roles especially on the area of Cybersecurity.

On the other hand, En Anwer Yusoff from Cyber Security Malaysia, explained that demand for graduate-level information security workers is to rise in the next decade based on the growth of cyber threats and attacks in Malaysia. Companies are having problems finding the security professionals that they need, and schools are not graduating enough students with the necessary talents or experience for entry-level positions in cybersecurity.

Anwer also said that the cyber security jobs are on the rise, while noting some encouragement in the fact that interest appears to be filtering in from university courses.

All forty participants from a combination of local public and private universities acknowledge that official EC-Council professional curriculum and certification will make their student to stand out from crowd in the field of cybersecurity.
